Kindergarten registration

Kindergarten screening & registration

Screening for kindergarten classes is generally held during March at the elementary school, 165 Chadwick Road, Delanson, NY. A mailing with required registration documentation will be sent ahead of time and will indicate the registration paperwork was due date.

If you are new to our district and have not completed a census form or have a kindergarten age child, please call the elementary school at (518) 895-2580. [DOWNLOAD CENSUS FORM]

Is my child eligible for kindergarten?

To be eligible to enter kindergarten in the fall, children must be 5 years old by December 1, 2015.

What do I need to do to register my child for kindergarten?

A birth certificate or other legal proof of age, guardian/ custodial documentation, immunization records, and three proofs of residency, (as outlined in Residency Requirements/Proof of Residency), are required at the time of registration.

State law (March 2014) requires that children have the following immunizations BEFORE they can enter kindergarten:

  • > 4-5 doses of diphtheria;
  • > 3-4 doses of polio;
  • > 3 doses of hepatitis B;
  • > 1 dose of MMR (measles, mumps, rubella); and
  • > 2 doses of varicella (chicken pox) vaccine.

Please visit our forms page to download and complete the appropriate kindergarten registration forms.

Parents of incoming kindergarten children in the district who had not received registration forms in the mail by Feb. 7 need to contact the elementary school office at 895-2580 as soon as possible to complete a census form and registration documentation. [DOWNLOAD CENSUS FORM]
