SED changes test scoring procedures, districts will be impacted

July 20, 2010—The Board of Regents recently announced that it approved scoring changes to the grades 3-8 math and ELA exams taken by students in May 2010. The new procedures raise the scores that students must earn in order to be considered "proficient" in a subject. It's being predicted that fewer kids will now achieve a level 3--which means meeting the learning standards. SED says it plans to release the scores the week of July 26.
