DCS board passes two resolutions

November 1, 2012

At its October 23 meeting, the DCS Board of Education passed two resolutions--the Long Term Viability and Sustainability and the Dignity and Respect Resolutions.

Letter from Board President Robert Fiorini

The Duanesburg Board of Education is proud to have passed two resolutions at our Oct. 23, 2012 meeting.

The resolution in support of the Long-Term Viability and Sustainability of our district affirms the board's commitment to guide our district through these uncertain financial times and to continue to offer the highest quality education for our students. While we recognize the serious threats facing schools in our state, we know that taking a leadership role will be the best path to protecting the interests of our district. Through the process of strategic planning, community forums and efficiency studies, we will gather the information we need and take necessary action to make sure our district is here for our children.

As we implement the New York State Dignity for All Students Act, we recognize that dignity and respect should be afforded to all members of our district. The board Resolution in Support of Dignity and Respect for our students, district employees and community members reflects the deep resolve we have to upholding those values. As we work together to resolve the challenges facing our district, we have the opportunity to show our students an example of how effective and dignified that process can be. I know they expect nothing less from us as we work to ensure their futures.
This is an important time to be involved and informed about the issues we face in our district. The Duanesburg school district is built on a strong foundation of community. Together, we can use that strength to give our students the world class education they deserve.

Thank you for supporting our schools!
Bob Fiorini
Duanesburg BOE President
