Tracy Stryker’s 1st-grade class helped their furry friends in a local animal shelter by holding a very successful pet supply drive and fundraiser. They were rewarded with a visit from Scout, an adopted shelter dog, and were recognized on the Dec. 22 WTEN-TV newscast by meteorologist and Pet Connection host Steve Caporizzo.

Caporizzo posted on his Facebook page, “A Big Shout Out to the 1st Graders at Duanesburg Elementary School . . . Mrs. Stryker’s class . . . They raised $125 for the Montgomery County SPCA and collected all kinds of supplies! Well Done ! You guys are awesome!”

“It was great for the children to see that a dog like Scout, who came from a shelter, can be so loving, friendly and full of life!” Stryker said. “We had a great talk about animal adoption.”
