Make-A-Wish fundraisers top $500

Feb. 23, 2017

Wow! The latest figures are in, and DCS students and staff have raised more than $700 for Make-A-Wish Northeast New York.

From wish walls to paper star ornament sales, the Elementary Community Service Club and High School Leo Club spearheaded the annual fundraisers during the holiday season.

They already know how their efforts will directly benefit local children with life-threatening conditions, as DCS’s own Jacob Galvin had a wish granted.
Last summer, Jacob and his family enjoyed a dream trip by train across the western United States, thanks to Make-A-Wish. With his wish granted and illness behind him, the 7th grader gave back to the charity by helping to raise awareness and funds as one of six local Wish Ambassadors.

Jacob’s granted wish was featured with those of fellow ambassadors on paper star ornaments offered for donations at area malls, banks and schools including DCS.
