Attention 10th-12th graders: Time to apply for NHS
March 6, 2017
The National Honor Society (NHS) ranks is one of the oldest and most prestigious national organizations of high school students. It was founded in 1921 by the National Association of Secondary School Principals. To be eligible for membership in the National Honor Society, a student must be a sophomore, junior or senior; be in attendance at the school for the equivalent of one semester; have a cumulative average of at least 88 percent.
Students applying to NHS are evaluated on the basis of service, leadership, and character. For this evaluation to take place, students must complete an activity information form and essay to aid the faculty council. Letters of verification must be included with the activity form. The selection of each member of the chapter shall be by a majority vote of the faculty council.
Application materials are due in person to Mrs. Dello Rocco by April 5 at 3:30 p.m.
