May 30, 2017

Tyler wins scholarshipTyler Drexel may only be in 6th grade, but he's already earning college scholarships. Tyler bowled his way to a 3rd-place finish and $600 scholarship at the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) New York State Pepsi Championship on May 20 in Rome, NY.

Just 20 young bowlers from across the state qualified for the competition, and Tyler represented Region 7 very well. He bowled games of 206, 204, 193, 195, 169, 182, for 1149 total. Tyler then made the top 4 stepladder finals, won his first match and lost his 2nd match by only 2 pins. His 3rd place finish earned him a $600 scholarship that can be used for higher education at any institution after he graduates.

Thousands of young bowlers participate in USBC tournaments. As a rising star, Tyler may have gotten a little lift from a special mascot: on championship day, he wore his lucky Duanesburg Eagles tee under his competition shirt.
