Free STEM-focused camp offered - apply asap

July 11, 2016

Slots are available for SEMI High Tech U, a FREE camp for students in grades 9-11 who are interested in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

The July 20-22 camp is hosted by Capital Region BOCES and focuses on critical thinking and learning through fun, interactive, hand-on activities about college-to-career pathways at three camp locations: Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Price Chopper Headquarters and the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE).

Campers are taught by industry volunteers in an atmosphere that fosters curiosity and encourages questions. During one activity planned this summer, students will explore how solar power can be used to improve daily life in the developing world. In another activity, students will conduct chemistry experiments to learn about conductivity and connectivity.

The camp is free to students who apply and are accepted. Anyone interested the camp is encouraged to call Capital Region BOCES at 862-4800 as soon as possible or email michele.ziegler@neric.org .
