Helping pets and people
Dec. 1, 2016
Take care of yourself and your beloved pets: Duanesburg Elementary students and FIRST Lego League (FLL) Team Purple Piggies members Tyler Drexel, Victoria Silva and Carter Tripp will help put on a Healthy Pets/Healthy People Clinic on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Duanesburg YMCA.
The students will be helping shelter pets by hosting a collection drive at the event, accepting donations of pet food, collars, leashes, non-clumping kitty litter, litter boxes and toys. The clinic is part of Team Purple Piggies' research project for their FLL competition in January. FLL is sponsored by the Schoharie Mohawk Initiative for Science and Technology and offers fun, educational, STEM-based activities for young people.
The Healthy Pets/Healthy People Clinic will offer flu shots for the people, microchipping of pets ($10), engraved ID tags ($4), pets for adoption, rabies and distemper vaccinations for dogs and cats ($10) and more.
Healthy Pets/Healthy People Clinic partners include the Schoharie Mohawk Initiative for Science and Technology, the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, Rite Aid and the Duanesburg YMCA.
