First graders show how kindness includes pets

Feb. 5, 2018

Tracy Stryker's 1st-grade class got a "BIG Shout Out" on the air and via Facebook from WTEN-TV meteorologist and Pet Connection host Steve Caporizzo for raising more than $100 to help animals waiting for homes.

"Love this when schools teach about compassion and helping pets in need," Caporizzo said."Thank you Duanesburg! They wanted to help pets, and they collected $105 for Pet Connection. Thank you to their teacher Tracy Stryker."

Kindness is central to the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program at Duanesburg Elementary, which fosters a safe learning environment where students achieve academically and build positive relationships with each other and with adults.

Congrats to all of the students and staff involved in supporting a good cause.
