Seuss Spirit Week will celebrate beloved author, reading, national event

Feb. 8, 2017

Silly, colorful, mismatched and fun: Duanesburg Elementary students will celebrate Dr. Seuss Spirit Week beginning Feb. 26, with lots of creative activities culminating on March 2, the beloved author's birthday and National Read Across America Day.

Monday, Feb. 26 will be Fox in Socks Day, with students wearing silly or mismatched socks. Tuesday is Green Eggs and Ham Day, a time to wear as much green as they can. Wacky Wednesday will be the day for students to get silly by wearing their clothes backwards, inside out or mismatched.

On Thursday, My Many Colors Day, they will wear as many colors as they can, and Friday, Cat in the Hat Day, students will wear their favorite hats while they observe Dr. Seuss's birthday and National Read Across America Day.

The National Education Association's Read Across America Day takes place annually on March 2, Dr. Seuss's birthday. Schools, libraries and community centers across the country participate by bringing together children, teens and books.
