A team of 10 6th-grade students teamed up for the GE KidWind Competition on March 17 at the company's energy facility on Old River Road in Schenectady, and the judges were blown away by their presentation.

According to teacher Christina Styjek, the judges were impressed by the team's use of entirely recycled materials to design, build and test a working wind turbine that could produce power.

Congrats to team members Liam Bazzell, Lauren Capron, Victoria Gentile, Alexandra Moses, Hannah Mulhern, Allison O'Hanion, Kaitlyn O'Hanion, Ava Pagano, Grant Raymond and Ben Zyniecki.

KidWind Challenge involves middle and high school age students in exploring wind energy through hands-on activities. They compete with their peers in a supportive environment at area events like the one in Schenectady.
