These staff are fit to be . . . winners

May 22, 2018

They came, they worked out and they won: From the beginning of January to the end of April, 28 Duanesburg High School faculty and staff members competed in a staff fitness challenge. The top-scoring team exercised for a total of 33,409 minutes, but all who participated enjoyed the health benefits.

Congratulations to top-scoring Bod Squad  members Deb Dames, Shelly Hundley, Ryan Patrie, Margaret Rivenburg and Barb Waddell, who won a healthy breakfast and bragging rights until the next staff challenge.

"They and other teams of four to five staff hustled, recorded their daily exercise minutes and reported their time each week," said physical education teacher Jennifer Fries. "As a school staff, we clocked 127,422 minutes of exercise over the last 4 months. Wow! That's about 2,124 hours, or 88 days or 13 weeks. Way to go staff!"

As a fitness challenge culminating activity, high school staff members participated in the Cherry Blossom 5K Run/Walk in Niskayuna on April 29. The funds raised through the event were donated to the St. Peter’s ALS Center in Albany.

Well done everyone.
