Duanesburg digs into Capital Region Hunger Games

Oct. 5, 2017

Duanesburg has been a top participant in the Capital Region Hunger Games in the past three years, and students are aiming for a repeat performance - and a win - while helping those in need.

The event pits Duanesburg against nine other area schools in a month-long drive to collect the most donations for the Food Pantries of the Capital District. The winner is determined by the total weight of the collected food. Students from the winning district will be awarded a private concert with the band LANco and a field trip chosen by the student council.

Parents, guardians, families and friends of students and DCS community members are all encouraged to donate to the effort.

According to event sponsor WGNA Radio, "Over the last 3 years, GNA’s Capital District High School Hunger games presented by SEFCU and the US Marines has raised over 50,000 pounds to feed the hungry in Greater Albany. And as we get ready for our 4th year, the need for food is greater than ever."
