All's fair in the college search

Oct. 17, 2017

School Counselors Kristina Goebel and Liz Halvorsen recently brought 19 Duanesburg High School juniors to SUNY Cobleskill's College Information Day, and the students found the trip to be well worth their time.

"The students were appreciative of being able to go around to speak with more than 75 college reps from around the New York/New England region," Halvorsen said.

The students' feedback included comments such as: "There were a LOT of schools to look at, and I enjoyed the experience overall."

"I never would have known about some of these schools without attending the college fair."

"I enjoyed the fair and also going on a campus tour to see the dorms and lecture halls."

Participating colleges ranged from SUNY schools from across the state to technical and specialized colleges, to universities and colleges large and small in other states such as Vermont, Florida, Pennsylvania and Michigan.

Students received a program with information on each school's academic and degree programs, costs, areas of specialty, sports, student-faculty ratio, housing, activities and contact information.
