A passion for fashion traced back to toddler days

Photo of Brianna ColucciWhen it comes to career planning, Duanesburg High School junior Brianna Colucci was three for three as a toddler.

“I’ve been very interested in fashion since I was three years old. I changed my clothes three times a day,” she said. “I want to be a fashion designer and am getting experience through fun projects in Global Fashion Studies.”

Colucci spends half of each school day pursuing her passion at the Capital Region BOCES Career & Technical Education (CTE) School in Albany.

She serves as historian of the school’s chapter of SkillsUSA, a CTE student organization. She became involved to meet new people, be more social and
make friends with kids from other classes. “It’s very cool,” she said.

Colucci recommends CTE to other students as a “great program where you become friends with your entire class and a lot of people help you.”

Likewise, Colucci values the support of her teachers at Duanesburg. “They help me improve instead of letting my weaknesses bring me down. I can ask questions comfortably and stay focused.”

Colucci is already focused on her next step: After graduating in 2018, she plans to major in fashion design at Cazenovia College.
