Tax Bill Information

Please note: Tax payments can no longer be made in person at the DCS Central Office. Payments must be mailed or paid online.

Tax bills were mailed around Sept. 8 and payment is due by Oct. 10 (postmarked Oct. 10 or earlier) without penalty. After Oct. 10 and until Oct. 31, a 2 percent penalty will be charged.

Please note that this year's later tax bill mailing and due dates were set because of a delay in receiving data from New York state.

How to pay school tax bills

Tax bills may be paid by check (payable to: Duanesburg Central School Tax Collector) or money order by mail.

Please make check or money order payable to D.C.S. Tax Collector and mail with remittance stub to:

Duanesburg CSD
Tax Processing Unit
133 School Drive
Delanson, NY 12053

For your convenience, a pre-addressed envelope is provided with your tax bill. The U.S. Postmark determines date of payment.

Tax bills may be paid online by credit card or debit card through a third-party payment service. A service fee of 3 percent of the tax bill or $2, whichever is more, is charged by the service and goes directly to the third-party service and not to DCS.

The third-party service also accepts e-checks and charges a fee of $4.95 for bills up to $2,499. For bills of $2,500 or more, a fee of $4.95 plus one-half percent of the total amount of the bill will be charged.

School Tax rates

School tax rates are affected primarily by property assessments, as well as by each town’s equalization rate — a percentage level set by New York state that compares property assessment in towns to real estate market value.

School tax rates are calculated after Duanesburg Central School District receives final assessment figures from the seven towns located within the district and the final equalization rates as set by the state.

2016-17 tax rates per $1,000 of assessed value are:

Duanesburg: $58.56

Charleston: $20.20

Knox: $32.59

Wright: $22.96

Princetown: $58.56

Florida: $40.41

Schoharie: $20.20

DCS receives updated tax rate information in late summer/early fall.
