National Honor Society students serve up lunch at Salvation Army
Nov. 30, 2015
November 25 was a day of service for members of Duanesburg High School's chapter of the National Honor Society. They prepared and served a tasty lunch of baked ziti, fruit and dessert at the Schenectady City Salvation Army's soup kitchen, enough to serve up to 200 people. They also helped to unpack and repack nonperishables for distribution to those in need.
This was the second year that the NHS students volunteered their time there the day before Thanksgiving. Jackie Smith, now a freshman at Clarkson University, suggested the idea last year to NHS Advisor Maureen Rynish. This year, Jackie returned to help out. "I'm really happy to be able to come back to interact with those less fortunate," she said. "It's the small things that count." View photos below.
