Duanesburg Elementary honors those who've served
Nov. 10, 2016
Duanesburg Elementary students and staff joined together on Nov. 10 for their special, annual ceremony recognizing those who have served our country. Local veterans and service members were honored with songs, letters, artwork, readings, thank-you messages and donations.
The high school band performed patriotic tunes for the day's honored guests and a cafeteria full of elementary students and staff dressed in red, white and blue. The children learned about how they have helped others and watched as a veteran's assistance dog showed off his math skills. Taps was played and a moment of silence further honored our nation's veterans.
The students were thanked by for their support of and donations to the Wounded Warrior Project by Marcia Carlson of Watervliet, who sends the items to a medical center in Germany. Carlson noted that she always includes the Duanesburg Elementary students' good works in her correspondence to leaders in the U.S. and around the world.
