Superintendent of Schools Kimberly Ross shared the following information with staff, students, and families today.
Dear DCS Students & Families:
As we wrap up the fall sports season and turn our attention to winter athletics, I would like to let our community know of an upcoming leadership change in the district’s athletic department.
Ms. Catie Wilson will be stepping down from her Athletic Director duties, but fortunately for us, will be staying in the district and continuing her role as a physical education and health teacher at the Jr.-Sr. High School. This move will provide her with the opportunity to focus more on our district’s athletic successes in a different capacity as a coach. Ms. Wilson will remain AD until after the Fall Sports Banquet on November 14 (6:30 p.m.).
Pending Board of Education approval on Tuesday, Nov. 5, current P.E. teacher Brett Simpson will take the next two weeks to transition into a new role as DCS’ Athletic Coordinator, overseeing the district’s interscholastic athletics. Jr.-Sr. High School principal Jodi Marvin will oversee the district’s P.E./Health staff and curriculum.
We are fortunate to have both Ms. Wilson and Mr. Simpson as part of our athletic department at Duanesburg, and know that it will be a seamless leadership transition in the coming weeks.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions you may have.
DCS still has three fall athletic teams competing in the postseason. We’d like to wish our student-athletes and coaches best of luck this week, including Cross Country (Section 2 Championship this Saturday 11/9), Girls Swimming (Section 2 Championship this Friday, 11/8 and Saturday 11/9), and Girls Volleyball (Section 2, Class D Semifinal on Wednesday, 11/6). Let’s go, Eagles!
Sincerely,
Kimberly Ross
Superintendent of Schools
